Team spirit against a historic backdrop: TH Wildau at the IKK BB Company Run Potsdam 2026

Armed with running shoes, the blue University Sports jerseys and plenty of high spirits, a small but dedicated team represented our university at this year’s IKK BB Company Run in Potsdam. On 19 May, against the historic backdrop of Sanssouci Park, the runners demonstrated that team spirit and exercising together are a top priority at TH Wildau.

It was an all-round successful late-afternoon trip to the state capital: the traditional IKK BB Company Run Potsdam took place in glorious spring sunshine and in front of a rousing crowd of spectators.

The central hub of the event was the well-known Mopke area, situated within the majestic ensemble between the New Palace and the historic colonnades. From there, the field of participants from various universities and companies set off in a total of five dynamic waves under the starting arch, visible from afar.

The five-kilometre running course took all participants right through the artistically designed grounds of Sanssouci Park. Passing historic monuments and under shady avenues, the course offered not only a sporting challenge but also some truly spine-tingling moments.

For the team, one thing was clear from the very first minute: the shared experience and the collective achievement of the finish line took precedence over personal best times.

Blue-and-white team spirit on and off the course

The Wildau delegation was easily recognisable thanks to their bright blue University Sports jerseys, adorned with a distinctive race number on the chest, the university logo and lettering on the back. Even before the actual starting gun was fired, there was a lively, harmonious atmosphere within the team. During the joint warm-up on the grass and the obligatory team selfies against the magnificent castle backdrop, the strong sense of camaraderie was palpable.

The participants’ faces reflected pure joy at the event – from the initial anticipation in the starting area to the happy smiles after crossing the finish line at the branded arches. All Wildau participants mastered the five kilometres with flying colours. Whether at a brisk run or in a steady, shared rhythm – in the finish area, pure joy at the team’s achievement prevailed.

The event impressively demonstrated how sport can act as a unifying element between different departments, faculties and staff groups at the university.

A strong boost for workplace health management

Participation in regional sporting events such as the Potsdam Company Run has long been an integral part of a vibrant campus and organisational culture at TH Wildau.

It links the strategic guidelines for promoting health in the workplace directly to everyday life. Such experiences create valuable scope for informal exchange and sustainably strengthen the internal network and the institutional sense of togetherness.

After successfully crossing the finish line and rounding off the sporting evening together, the runners’ verdict was clear: there is already huge anticipation for next year.

A big thank you goes to the University Sports Department for the smooth organisation, as well as to everyone involved for their dedicated efforts on the course.
